As the college year is coming to a close, I cant help but think about my favorite summer activities. I was thinking about putting it in list form but i decided to just write about it instead. Summer immediately reminds me of golf. I'm no Phil but I can hold my own on a course and I enjoy every chance I get to hit the links with good friends. What I dont like is the hit my wallet takes every time I go. Golfing is expensive but an amazing summer activity all the same. Then there are backyard cookouts. You cant really beat a backyard cookout when your talking about a time to drink. Theres nothing better than a beautiful summer day, grilling food, music playing, beers flowing, wiffle ball games, an occasional pool or slip-n-slide, and friends enjoying each others company. These do take some planning though, money, a house, and who else knows what, but always worth the trouble. Going to the beach is always an experience. If you live in a spot like I do that is about 50 mins from the Cape, going to the beach can be a day thing but if you want to drink, gonna be tough to drive back, so in the end, something has to be given up. Not to mention, you have to get up early to fully enjoy the day and beaches are always crowded. If you live near a beach or anything like that, this does not apply to you, congrats to you, you lucky person. Summer concerts comes in a close second for my favorite summer activity. I love music and to see a show live in the humid nights of the summer is something that is very hard to beat. There is something about live music in the summer that makes everyones lives that much better, great times had by all (minus the too drunk teenagers). Concerts cost money though and travel time. I love to do it and live for live shows but thats why it comes in a close second. Concerts come in at second only behind my number 1 summer activity, fishing. I know that I am not in the majority here with this pick and that I have a slight advantage living on a lake, but there are plenty of opportunities to fish for everyone. After a long day of work, right around 5 or 6 pm when its a nice temperature and the sun is still shining bright, there is nothing better than getting the rods and tackle box, a cooler of beers, and a radio and going on to any form of boat and casting until sundown. I know some find fishing boring and I can understand but I find it peaceful and exciting. Its inexpensive and relaxing and there is no better feeling than hooking on to a nice fish and bringing him to the boat. Amazing activity and I can not wait to get out there.
Until next time,
Hazy
