Jebediah’s Favorite Films: ‘91

1991The Best: The Silence of the Lambs - This may be the easiest year to make a decision on…not because there weren't a bunch of great films, but because one stood out as quite possibly the best thriller/horror movie of all time. The best movie of 1991 is The Silence of the Lambs. In this horror film Anthony Hopkins plays a cannibalistic, yet brilliant psychiatrist named Hannibal Lecter. On the other side of the law Jodie Foster plays a young FBI agent whose first job as a member of the FBI is to get inside of Lecter's thoughts so as to catch a serial killer named "Buffalo Bill". Despite the horror genre not often being recognized by the Academy, again the Academy got it right as this film won each of the 5 most prestigious awards: Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, and Best Director.

Other Notables: Beauty and the Beast
