1998 – The Best: Saving Private Ryan – It appears that GC and I are on the same wavelink again as Tom Hanks is a producer of the miniseries The Pacific, and star of the Film Saving Private Ryan. The best war movie ever made, period. Tom Hanks delivers a masterful, original, and true performance. Tom Hanks plays Captain John Miller in the tale of his brigade storming the beach at Normandy, and subsequently searching for Private Ryan so as to give the young soldier the news that he is being sent home. The cast also includes Vin Diesel and Matt Damon. The plot is great, the characters believable, and the cinematography is unreal. Simply put, if you want to see what war is really like and watch a great movie at the same time, watch Saving Private Ryan. I’ll say it again because it’s true…best war film ever. And the Academy agrees – Saving Private Ryan won 5 Academy Awards.
